Biography
Prof. Dr. Sami is a UK board-certified Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 18 years of experience, specialising in hand and wrist surgery. He is widely regarded as one of the leading hand surgeons in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Education & Training
Dr. Sami completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Sheffield in 2006, earning both an intercalated Bachelor of Medical Sciences with Honours (BMedSci Hons) and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). He subsequently completed his surgical residency through the East Midlands (North) Rotation, where he attained his Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons in Trauma & Orthopaedics (FRCS Tr & Orth) and his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery. He has been listed on the GMC Specialist Register since 2017.
Dr. Sami is fellowship-trained from internationally recognised centres of excellence, including the Pulvertaft Hand Centre in Derby and Chelsea & Westminster Hospital in London.
International Distinctions
Dr. Sami holds a rare dual distinction: he is one of only a handful of surgeons worldwide — and the only surgeon in the MENA region — to have been awarded both the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) Hand Surgery Diploma from the University of Manchester (2019) and the European Board of Hand Surgery Diploma from the Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH) (2019).
Academic & Professional Contributions
Dr. Sami is an active contributor to the global surgical community. He serves as faculty at national and international surgical courses and conferences, holds a peer-review role for a hand surgery journal, and has authored publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals. He has delivered lectures and presented research at major international meetings.
He currently holds the position of Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Gulf Medical University.
Prior to his current role at Healthpoint, Dr. Sami served as Clinical Lead for Hand Surgery at a major NHS hospital in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Sami serves as Chair of Perioperative Surgery, providing strategic and clinical leadership across all aspects of the perioperative pathway. In this role, he is responsible for the optimisation of every stage of the patient’s surgical journey — from preoperative assessment and preparation through intraoperative care to postoperative recovery and outcomes. His leadership in this capacity reflects a systems-level commitment to surgical excellence, patient safety, and the continuous improvement of care quality across multidisciplinary teams.

Dr Sami obtained his intercalated Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMedSci) (Hons), and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Sheffield in 2006. He completed his residency in from the East Midlands (North) Rotation, completing his FRCS (Tr & Orth), and achieving his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Trauma and Orthopedics Surgery. He has been on the GMC Specialist Register since 2017.
Dr Sami is one of a few surgeons internationally, and the only one in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region that has completed both the prestigious British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) Hand Diploma from the University of Manchester in 2019; and the European Board Hand Surgery Diploma, from Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH) in 2019.
